This is a students car. I don't understand how they can afford it.

I didn't take any pictures so it doesnt deserve its own post. But a kid at my old school has:
New A4, new Mustang, Raptor, NA Miata and has ordered a 4C
…. rich kids man, rich kids.

Since these can be had for relatively cheap, I'm going to be optimistic and say they worked through high school and got one of these instead of a Mustang.

I have no idea how old the owner is. They have a veterans plate so I wanna say older than 25

At least he has decent taste.
![]() 02/03/2015 at 14:46 |

could be older than you imagine, and got a big disability pay out.

Every time I saw a car like this in a school parking lot it was usually driven by an attractive coed who had a sugar daddy. Take that for what it's worth.

Soldiers get payed a fair bit in the service, so that would be how.

Maybe his parents, not that I have any problem with that.

C6s aren't too expensive. Not totally unrealistic to think it's a kid who worked his ass off and saved. I had some pretty impressive savings until I went to college and spent it all on booze and stuff. It all went to shit when I got a fake ID :)

Okay, so free college. That's how.

In undergrad, my ex was driving around a then-new 2011 3series courtesy of Dad.
However, with no loan debt or large expenses and two summers of very nicely paid internships under his belt, he leased a 2013 3series all by himself starting his super senior year. Shit happens when you can save money due to having no expenses for 23 years.

Nope 2500$ a class

Yea, but when you try to talk cars he says things like - "Ordered a white 4C, because the red Lambo back home gets too much attention."
Probably valid, but I just can't.

Ok that's definitely obnoxious haha.

Assuming they have their GI Bill, they're not paying that $2,500 a class.
And you'd be surprised how much money you can save up over the course of a deployment if you don't have dependents.

He means the veteran plates likely means that he is taking advantage of the G.I. Bill that helps Vets pay for college.

My best friend's little brother came back from serving overseas for about 5 years as an artillery specialist. He bought a small farmhouse and land and a new dodge ram 2500. Cash. GI bill is covering school so he works for some sporting goods store while going to school and has no real bills. It seems nice until you realize he probably saw some shit....

That, and until you realize that he has to deal with the VA. I'm pretty sure the VA's hold music is piped in from one of the circles of Hell.

I have a buddy in the Navy who I went to college with, spends a good amount of time deployed in the Indian Ocean. One day he messages me on Facebook, "hey man, looking to buy a car, got any advice?"
"What's your budget?" I ask.
"Well, I have an extra $40,000 sitting around."
Turns out that when you get combat pay and the military is covering your housing, it only takes two years to accumulate a large pile of money.

could have bought it cheap if it has a branded title. That's a huge value killer.

Let it also be known that there are car and motorcycle dealerships surrounding every base just waiting to hand out predatory loans on the go-fast of your choice.
Source: too many Navy/Marine friends making poor financial choices

Fortunately, my buddy is quite sensible...almost too sensible, really. His previous car was a Toyota Avalon, and when we got to talking, he said he liked that car and would feel all right buying another one. Knowing that this car would sit in shore for months at a time and that he was concerned about reliability as a result, I told him to test drive an ES350 rather than suggest anything more radical. He ended up buying an ES300h hybrid, and loves it. Didn't pay for the whole thing in cash, but got a short-term loan from Toyota Motor Credit and already paid it off. He is *not* a car enthusiast.

If he has vet plates he's most likely using his GI bill so yeah free college=more money for cars

You can get a C6 for the price of a Jeep Renegade

Good for him :) Whereas my genius friend was all WOOOO COMBAT PAY (not that I blame him because holy shit, 4 tours before age 20) and proceeded to drop $40k on firearms alone then bought himself a brand new bright red Camaro.

I know a 25 year old who recently purchased a used Lamborghini. It was purchased with his own money. To be fair, he lives with his parents and is single. I've been on my own since 20. I'll take my own personal freedom and no questions asked, thanks.

with his/her job?
My cousin is in college down in New Orleans, he saved his money from when he was 17 to his 20th birthday (works as a waiter, makes an absolute killing in tips as he's a likable guy) and bought himself a used C6 that he still daily drivers and tracks twice a year.
I mean it's really not hard to save money, especially if you still do live at home while in college (nothing wrong with that at all btw).

That corvette probably cost about $25k used. He bought it with his combat pay and since probably lived on base and had zero expenses, and is likely going to school on the GI bill, it adds up.
Plenty of vets rack up decent savings and send it on expensive trucks, motorcycles and muscle cars.

Not every young person's nice car is bought with mommy and daddy money.
